I hope many ppl agree with me on this one. TMPGenc is a very useful but highly time consuming product. It would be nice to see features enabling distributed processing, ie encoding one file using many PCs. Some people dont have the luxury of multi-processor motherboards, however, there are many who do have more than one PC.

I must admit that i dont really know much about how the programing works, but isnt there a way to utilise the multithreding support to share the workload over a network?

Well, any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I think this has been mentioned somewhere else on this board, but it wast a direct request so I thought it was necessary. ;)

Hey all, i just converted IceAge from .avi to mpeg2. the conversion went flawless, end product is fantastic. but when i go to put it on a dvd Easy" dvd creator cant use the file....arugh! unfortunatly i got use to this program for cd's. any sugestions?

Will there be any chance to convert RMVB to MPEG using TMPGEnc Xpress 3.0? The quality of RMVB seems pretty good and I'll love to see TMPGEnc can do the conversion.

Once again, TDA has failed to read chapter titles properly, whereas other programs manage to do so.

Just load the AVI into TMPG and select the appropiate template for DVD.

ie, how do I put more than one 20 minute clip onto one vcd?

Number the files in sequence like file001.asf, file002.asf, file003.asf and so on then enable the 'Open sequence files as a movie' option in the general tab in 'Enviromental settings'
Then just load the first file of the sequence.

Video bitrate 1000kbit/sec
Audio bitrate 256kbit/sec
Total bitrate 1256kbit/sec

File size (for this specific clip) according to TMPGEnc 3.0 eXpress: 345.01MB

Length 38 minutes, 24 seconds

What I get is ~354MB

It is easy to prove now that the encoder is using 1kbit=1024bit, while the target size calculator is using 1kbit=1000bit.

I believe that the calculator is using the correct calculations while the encoder is using the wrong.

Exactly. I tried encoding a 90 min 1400MB file to WM9 700K total bitrate and got the estimated file size of 1.59MB. Shame to as this is exactly what I want to use for my WM9 encodes. Maybe next year when the developers learn how to code calculations correctly.

Once again, TMPGEnc DVD Author has failed to read a title properly.

Once again, other DVD authoring programs do not fail.

The DVD is Farscape, Season 3, Volume 2 disc B.

The second episode, it reads to less than its full length.

Why? you can set a clean start and stop encode point using twice the same source file ? 2.5 cut tool screwed more filers than I can count, this is why I always used the Source range filter in 2.5 and now the list in XPress.

Keep 2.5 plus Installed, There are some things that just should change I have both installed. I find that 2.5 is better for simple things that 3.0xp is not.
